BukuWarung’s Chinmay Chauhan
Chinmay Chauhan, the co-founder of Indonesian fintech BukuWarung, shared this post on LinkedIn in honor of his mother. At Quona Capital, we’re inspired by all kinds of things, but especially founders who have a very personal reason for the work they do and the problems they solve. This is the first in an ongoing series about what inspires founders.
“Meet my mom, my single biggest source of inspiration, lifetime advisor, and strongest supporter. ❤️ Whenever I’m faced with a difficult situation, my mom’s struggles, relentless hard work and commitment inspires me. 🙌🏽
For the longest period of time, my family earned less than $100 per month, and my mom was contributing to 50% of this income. She ran a small tailoring business from our home while also raising us and running the household. She ran this business for several years to help us make ends meet financially.
Her spirit and hustle in running her small business, and overcoming all odds during the toughest of times is what inspired me to start BukuWarung (YC S20) with the mission to empower millions of small and micro-businesses in Indonesia who, like my mom, work daily to meet ends for the future of their families.”
